Is the Ratepayers Executive set to take over town?

Ratepayers Actions Questioned

Just received an email from a friend who took the time to do a montage of sorts on our past year with the Ratepayers Association. Check it out.

The Ratepayers Actions over the past year also deserves some scrutiny

What is the common denominator here between the Ratepayers Association Executive and candidates from Community Futures running for council that I have been speaking out about in my last few posts? That’s right, Bill Kovach. The extremely affable and approachable holier than thou self-anointed volunteer of the year, got his fingers in more taxpayer grant money for his so-called non-profit societies than you can shake a stick at, while at the same time sitting on the pork barrel board of Community Futures.

Bill Kovach is on record as saying to a general meeting of the Ratepayers that council’s actions of imposing different types of tax (fees) increases amounted to approximately $80.00 per individual. Now the question I have for people here is, do you really believe that well-healed Bill Kovach stirred up the masses as he did solely because it was costing him $80.00 a year more to live here?

Or do you think that maybe it was all a ruse, a platform, for him and his cohorts at Community Futures to take over control of our municipality with their puppets on the Ratepayers Executive acting as their unwitting naive proxies? Along with an easily manageable green as grass ‘good old boy’ mayor who will act as their front man and puppet, and eventual patsy fall guy when things go south…. as they inevitably will.

On October 21st, The Ratepayers Executive is prepared to take over and run this town. Are you sure that is what you want? Consider your vote carefully – for the next 4 years.

Vote experience, vote Prince!

Freeing a person from misconceptions, false truths, and lies does not take anything from him; it gives him something important.

While there may be some concern regarding the link between certain people running for council and the Community Futures, it is clear that you are on a personal vendetta re Bill Kovach. Is this because he did not have the Ratepayers endorse you and then as you think endorsed Mr Painter, or are you pouring oil on the fire to upset the mayoral and council election. Either way, this is hardly the way to make a run for mayor.

You can bait ‘n switch all you want and put your own spin on things but that doesn’t change anything for the facts are the facts and they are indisputable.

Now go out and put another sign up for your candidates and leave the discerning public to make up their own minds on who they should support in this election, without your attempt at whitewashing unpleasant or incriminating facts.

In addition to the above I don’t want Bill and his self-serving kind on my council, or any council for that matter.

How is it a personal vandetta against Bill Kovach?
Just because John is giving facts to people to base their opinions on. It is called a free world.
And yes, he is looking less and less desirable to the discerning public I believe.

Your comment is off topic here. As well, it helps when commenting here to do some research beforehand, while looking at the broader picture and over a period of time with respect to your subject matter.

If you would like to see your comment posted here try being less insulting, get your facts straight, do more research on the subject matter relying less on innuendos and conjecture, and look up the word envy. While you are at it look up the words deceitful, treacherous and hypocrite for those are the characteristics of your hero who I do not want to see sitting on my council, or any other.

From the municipal minutes of September 3, 2013

Hillcrest Mine Disaster Memorial Committee – Request for project funding

M#6996-13: Councillor Lonsbury moved that council allocate funding for the Hillcrest Mine Disaster Memorial project in the amount of $150,000 to be drawn from the Municipality Sustainability Initiative capital grant funding, Community Services allocation and further that these funds be provided conditional upon the remaining funds for the project being secured to complete the project.

p.s. For those who don’t know, Bill Kovach is the Hillcrest Mine Disaster Memorial Committee.

This community had a conniption fit when finding out we paid $50,000 for the rights to a Best Western franchise that we now don’t even own, and that we took $100,000 from our seniors in order to balance the budget, but it seems despite Bill Kovach as president of the Ratepayers Association raising a ruckus over these issues and crying the blues about out of control spending by our mayor and council he had no problems at all on behalf of his society going for and getting $150,000 from our council to put up more granite monuments to the dead, along with wine and cheese parties for the elite in this community, while the living, including our seniors, can do without.

Again, we see more for the greedy, less for the needy, practiced by those whose priorities are all screwed up because they come from a class that lives in a world of their own caring little to nothing about those not from their circle and neighbourhood.

While I think you are a terrible choice for mayor, John… Blair Painter is much worse.

Ah, a critic who only got it half right. :-)

JP, with the public meetings coming up, how about doing an entry where we can post questions for candidates?

    For starters:

    – Are you in favour of the Ranchland annexation?

    – Are you in favour of the “Viability Review”?

    – Would you continue with the Group Vachon – Best Western thing (or turf them and do something different)?

You get first dibs on answering them.

Interesting you should comment as you did because I have a post I was going to save until tomorrow, but now I’ll post it right after this, in which I raised the question: Council Candidates, where are they?

p.s. Look back on this blog and you will see I have already answered all your questions.

$150,000 to the Hillcrest Mine Disaster?!? When does UROC get their $150k to build bike trails and help make this a better community and tourist destination? Oh that’s right, in the Crowsnest Pass it’s “heritage” at any expense, because that’s what people love, right? They come great distances to look at old artifacts, monuments and museums. Then they use the washroom, the real reason they stopped, and keep driving to somewhere that has something fun to do for the rest of their vacation.

John, I think I know where you stand on this, but it wouldn’t hurt to make it known for everyone. Time to invest in our future.

How do you know that the Hillcrest Mime project is only for the elite and that seniors are excluded? You don’t.

10:12 When you tell the truth about Bill Kovach it’s a personal vendetta? What a joke. If John can’t win by telling the truth why would he make a run for Mayor, like you say? To you its just get in lie, cheat, bully, whatever, but get in. This is stupid! If John would get in that way he would be lying to himself and us for the next four years. You can’t reason with a person with no conscience. John has one, and that makes all the difference between him and the others like Bill!! We are looking for a fair Mayor, not a piece of sh**.

  15. Anonymous says:

7:57 PM. You have no idea whether or not John would be a fair mayor. Perhaps he could be a good mayor if he uses his talents and stays between the white lines, not to be confused with middle of the road.

As for you, you are a piece of work who spits out hate and crap. The Hillcrest Mine project is a waste of money but where were you when the council discussed this and approved it. Is this CF money or MSI capital grant? Plus what does Bill have to do with the mayors race, and don’t give me the Painter deception bit.

    “Council Candidates, where are they?”
That was my point, I would like answers for specific questions from all the candidates, and I’m sure others have questions as well. The way these meetings usually go, the hard questions don’t get asked, and if they are the candidates slither out of answering.

“p.s. Look back on this blog and you will see I have already answered all your questions.”
We voters have notoriously short memories, and we are too lazy to look back on blogs. You need to tiresomely repeat this stuff.

I listened to that. They said at the end they would try to contact Myron. Did they have any luck?

  18. Anonymous says:

I could not get the link to work for the Painter interview. But I am really interested to see what he said.

8:49 A fair Mayor is a man who says what’s on his mind, debates with the Councillors all ideas and comes to a vote. If you have some that are scared to vote their minds then you got a problem. Better to find that out now than when it is too late, simple no sheep allowed. I thank you for mentioning that John has talent, you forgot guts, wisdom, etc We will never know what money goes where and how it gets there until we elect John to find out for US. Now you have the two biggest parasites in town that want to be elected to watch dog themselves and close all the doors for the voters to find out where the money is redirected to. With John in WE will be able to follow the MONEY. Those (CFDC) are corrupt only you with your vote CAN fix it. YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO VOTE JOHN X.
