Telling the Truth
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
They say, the public will believe anything, so long as it is not founded on truth, and therefore the truth really is a revolutionary act.
Some people here in the Pass can’t handle the truth they prefer living in a self-imposed world of lies and illusions. The movie Matrix really is their world. They like being led by the nose by their so-called superiors because this allows them to not have to think for themselves. A good example of this was discussed and displayed in my last post in which I talked about how the blind zealots at this week’s Ratepayer Meeting swallowed hook, line, and sinker what was fed to them without once questioning what they were being fed. Now from what I understand, as with religious zealots, they have been instructed to boycott my blog under threat and penalty of ostracism because of their leaders fear that I might break the spell of the kool-aid they have been fed.
Apparently people are starting to get their eyes open and questioning where exactly is this group, not having a platform or strategic plan of their own that they have been willing to share, going to take us? Especially now considering the revelations that are coming out about some of their ‘chosen ones’ conflicts of interest with respect to their already having so many fingers in the public pie while wanting even more. These people who already exploit the system for them and their friends benefit now want ownership of the bank, so to speak.
Pretty scary situation in that with the present mayor and council we know what their platform is and where they want to take us, whereas we have no clue where this other group of self-appointed saviours plan on taking us and what they intend to do, except for their stated mission of wanting to take us backwards in time.
This taking us backwards in time was pretty apparent at the above meeting when one member raised the question on how soon we can get rid of the Peace Officers. Bill, answering for the executive, said he did not know but it wouldn’t be in a day or two after taking office. The prudent answer of course, as with so many other issues, would of been to state we’ll have to wait until we get all the facts and do an assessment. The same obviously goes for so many other issues. “We’re going to cut costs, fire people, trim the budget, kill this, kill that.” The typical answers of people who know not what they do.
The truth of the matter is Decoux and his boys for the most part did things that needed doing, that were long overdue. The problem was not so much what he and his council did but in the manner and time-line in which they did it. Along with poor judgement on display by them as what the end-result of what the branding exercise gave us. Re-branding the Pass with banners, logos, entrance-gate signs etc. needed doing as any common sense business person will tell you. You have to advertise. Otherwise, you die and are forgotten. That is why businesses both small and large, along with municipalities, advertise. However, where our council went wrong was not in spending money in much needed advertising but in what they came up with was a total disaster and a marketing nightmare. Mountain Freedom, Crowsnest Mountain, Mining, these are just some examples of what we really are all about. We may be a lot of things to a lot of people but we certainty are not space-cadets wearing triangles as dunce caps.
The point I’m making is the present mayor and council despite their good intentions failed us in far too many ways, losing our trust and respect in the process. And in this regard, with the possible exception of one or two councillors, are not deserving of a second chance. The present group of front runners trying to replace them, in my opinion, cannot even hold a candle to these guys. For they are far from being progressive but rather regressive, have no plan, other than to slash and burn while milking the cow dry for all it is worth for them and their friends. With respect to the latter, they have already demonstrated this time after time over the years in having sat on influential boards that handled millions of dollars flowing into this community over the years, and what have we seen comeback to the community for all of this money? Very little to nothing. No, these people have failed us miserably when sitting in positions of power and influence having the means to turn things around in this community but did not. These are not leaders, they are users. Exploiters, after personal gain. They care not about the little guy for like the white collar criminals on Wall Street or on our own Bay street, its all about GREED… more for the greedy, less for the needy, is their motto.
I guess the message I am trying to get across to people here is to look out for the psychopaths among us who are looking to manipulate their way onto council, otherwise known as Snakes in Suits. Especially the ones who come across as folksy, self-deprecating, one of the common folk, who smile too much, and when pissing on your leg tell you it must be raining. Be especially careful of those who already have their fingers in too many pies and that you know from their track record they hate to share, not even willing to give you the crumbs off their plate.
In closing, I ask that you my reader look for the truth in what I am saying, for the biggest obstacles to understanding the truth are lies disguised as truth. Open your eyes, do some research and edumacate yourself before you cast that ballot. For if wrong, you will be paying the price for not three years but for four years this time around.
And remember, watch out for the Snakes in Suits for they are among us. Who knows, I might be one of them? Of, no! :-0 :-)
Now go do your homework, and don’t get fooled this election, like you did the last time.
I never did give them hell. I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell.
