Council’s mistreatment of volunteers
A reader here just brought it to my attention that after months and months of trying to get residents here to volunteer for community boards council has finally succeeded in filling some of them. Albeit, as my reader states by way of comment on a previous post…
Going off topic. I see a few of the boards got filled. I predicated that they would use friends and family and that is what they have done. They snubbed John Prince as was expected. This is how council stays in control over everything. There will be no big impact from the new EDB. They may as well just go and get the report from the previous group, they actually had some good ideas. And it does not matter anyway unless council is willing to follow through with some of the recomendations.
You can read about the board appointments here…

As some of you may know the Economic Development Board (EDB) is one that I applied to sit on in order to assist council in trying to turn things around here on the economic front. The EDB consists of seven (7) members at large and one (1) council representative (Brian Gallant).
It must have been tough for Brian and council to finally arm-wrestle residents here to get at least eight (8) applicants in order to ensure they could exclude those they did not want, while trying at the same time to make the case to residents here that with over 2/3rds the way through their mandate that they really are serious about taking constructive action (no matter how much it hurts) on our economic front by ensuring they got the best people possible to sit on this board.
I personally find this hard to believe and think instead that by their self-serving actions: nepotism, cronyism, knowledge of the community’s general disengagement and lack of interest and desire to sit on their boards because of this council’s dismal track record with respect to perceived mistreatment of volunteers by them in the past, by their ostracisms and exclusions, by their fear of those they perceive as a threat on the political front, that they will continue to wreak havoc with residents lives in this community until their term is done… and we are finally done with them.
