Devon donates Ski Hill to Crowsnest Pass

Ski Hill

Ski Hill

After leasing the land to the municipality for the Pass Powderkeg Ski Resort for over 30 years, Devon announced it is donating the ski hill land to the community.

For some really good news read here a story by Joni MacFarlane from the Crowsnest Promoter on how Devon has just announced they will be donating the land our Ski Hill sits on to our municipality.

This opens up the door to all sorts of business and economic opportunities for us as owners that weren’t available before as leasees. Exciting News at last!

p.s. Is the Golf course next? Not pushing here… just asking. ;-) :-)

Great news for the community. Hopefully the entire council gets to share credit and not just one or two of them.

This is the best news we could get The municipality has a lot of investment in that ski hill. Hopefully the groups that look after the hill will be able to expand on this now.

Good news. Thanks Devon. And once again has very little to do with council.
I do find a lot of humuor in you posting these things. It must be driving the mare nuts that by the time he announces something we all know the news already.
I do find it odd though that there has not been a press release about the CC site.I am looking forward to the details. When will the hospital be removed, when will the hotel be built, how much did we sell the land for, what gaurantees did we get, what guarantees did we give. By now this should all be public knowledge.Hopefully by the end of the day council can give us the details.

“It must be driving the mare nuts that by the time he announces something we all know the news already”.

Could it be that there is no news about the CC site, the major manufacturing plant, etc? But as soon as we do know, we should make sure that our mare is the first to be informed.

Here’s what the mare is thinking…hmmm, now that we own that land, let’s get rid of the ski hill and sell it!

They are having real problems coordinating all the various press releases. Must be stressful when the world is not listening and according proper credit.

Something about this article that I just don’t understand.

It is mentioned that “Devon has just announced they will be donating the land our Ski Hill sits on to our municipality”.

Did they actually hold legal title to vast tracts of land around this area? I thought that they held mineral rights only? If so, what is there to transfer?
Past token $1 lease contracts are customary since mineral rights supercede surface developement and Devon was willing to enter into a Covenant with the CNP.

Maybe someone out there can set me straight on this issue.
