Employment Opportunity – Economic Development Officer

Employment Opportunity

Well, once again, the municipality is advertising for an Economic Development Officer. Personally, I don’t see the need for doing this as I sent them my resume late last year, they should still have it on file? In fact, I copied it to all senior management, including the CAO.

But I guess with this council’s best practices they only hire ‘outsiders’, if at all possible. I mean since taking office there is not one local in upper management in that office, now is there? I guess us dumb hillbillies just aren’t good enough to manage a department promoting our own community, no matter our background, education or experience… or resources.

If not a Prince, then I know of at least one young lady in our local Community Futures office who would be an ideal candidate, if she could be stolen away?

I’m sure there are a few other qualified individuals who would make excellent local choices, who as well, already know both the community and its people, which if not a job requirement, should be.

Few people can see genius in someone who has offended them.

They are looking for someone who will do as he is told, Any opposition to the Mares distorted thinking is not tolerated. Sorry John you don’t fall into the yes man category, so forget being hired by these brain washed, institutionalized people who can’t do anything without being told what to do, hence all the consultants or they find it in their book of rules. I’m beginning to think that they are scared of the locals, because we are thinkers, not sheep.

They will not hire the right person. They should be looking for someone with sales experience and not be so concerned about education.Having a degree or diploma does not make a salesmen.

Press Release – For Immediate Distribution
Dear Residents, it has come to our attention that our massage is not getting through to you and, therefore, our efforts are not fully understood and properly appreciated.
It is our firm belief that our very important message has been corrupted by the local newspapers and, especially, the blogs and few misinformed residents who keep spreading inaccuracies. With this in mind, on your behalf, we have hired a renowned international consultant in linguistics, Professor Henry Higgins, who has reviewed the stories in both local papers with special emphasis on reporting bias.
As you know, Professor Higgins is a very credible celebrity with high demand on Broadway, as well as in London’s West end. We, as a community, were very fortunate he happened to be between gigs and available.
This is what he has found: we are not understood and we are not appreciated. He also suggested we hire a reputable Public Relations Consultants to correct few of the persistent inaccuracies which keep spreading through our community. Everyone knows that PR consultants are more dependable than small town reporters. The PR consultant has been tasked to correct the following inaccuracies:
    1) We did not cancel the Thunder in the Valley!
    2) No one ever suggested Community Peace Officers would pay for themselves!
    3) We did not hire additional administrative staff!
    4) We are very open and transparent!
    5) We did not call police about the fireworks, honest!
    6) We do not threaten anyone, especially in the media, with high powered lawyers!
    7) We don’t hire out of town consultant needlessly, they are all needed, honest!
    8) We did not wreck the fire department, even if a bit more expensive; the new fire department is much better looking. Our PR department is working on a calendar, coming soon, honest!

There are few other issues and inaccuracies, but this is getting a bit long to hold attention.

No, you need education also. Why bother going to get a degree if it is the same.

I always say, The more diplomas they have hanging on the wall, the DUMBER they are. Just book learning no useful experience.

So….if you take a bug, pull off all it’s arms and legs, it’s still alive, and it’s still a bug, technically, you didn’t kill it. But how long will it live?

It seems that anyone wanting to do business here must start out by having secret back-room meetings with Himself’s Worship.

What is the role of an “Economic Development Officer”? Bruce’s appointment secretary?

WOW! So the municipality wants an EDO who can drum up business both from a legal stand point and illegal as well. No fooling around with these guys, hey? Who drew up this job description for them I wonder? Probably a consulting firm that knows how to do business both above board and underhanded as well… whatever it takes… sounds like how our mayor and council operates already, now doesn’t it? :-(
