What World Leaders can learn….

…. from the simple guy with the Hot Dog stand.

Yes, yes, I know. My readers have told me they prefer I stick with local issues and not bring up subjects such as with my last post on the TFW Program , but this next story needs to be told. From the roof tops no less!

But first, in order to give what I am about to tell you some context (and to make my point) let me repost here a story I’ve done before, on the simple hot dog vendor.

A Man Lived by the Side of the Road…

… and sold hot dogs

He had no radio.

He had trouble with his eyes, so he had no newspaper.

But he sold good hot dogs, and lots of them.

He put up a sign on the highway, telling how good they were.

He stood by the side of road and cried: “Buy a hot dog, mister”, and people bought.

He increased his meat and bun orders, and he bought a bigger store to take care of his trade.

He got his son home from college to help him, then something happened.

His son said: “Father, haven’t you been listening to the radio? There’s a big depression on. The international situation is terrible, and the domestic situation is even worse.”

Whereupon his father thought: “Well, my son has been to college. He listens to the radio and reads the paper, so he ought to know.”

So, the father cut down on his bun and meat orders, took down his advertising signs, and no longer bothered to stand on the highway to sell hot dogs.

His hot dog sales fell almost overnight.,

“You were right, son” the father said to his son. “We certainly are in the middle of a great depression.”

Now, in today’s news it is discovered that the great evil AUSTERITY that has/is being shoved (rammed) down peoples/nations throats since the financial collapse back in 2008, by conservative governments and their institutions everywhere, and which was based on a couple of Harvard University professors paper (bible), is full of sh**.

“His findings are causing influential thinkers, conservative politicians and bankers to rethink harsh economic policies imposed on some of Europe’s most indebted and struggling states.”

You can read the story here…

Thomas Herndon: How a lone grad student became a media sensation by blowing a hole in austerity’s ‘bible’

I’m no Harvard University professor, or economist, or a highfalutin intellectual (whatever that means these days?) but even I understand the simple moral story behind the hot dog vendor above, and how like his son our illustrious world leaders got it so wrong, including our own federal government, with their slash and burn policies.

Maybe all these smart guys need to look back in history to a time when guys like Keynes and FDR turned things around with their New Deal and got the country back on track.

But that would mean they would have to stop playing partisan politics, now wouldn’t it? While also undergoing a paradigm shift in their right-wing ideological thinking as well. Hard to phantom that. Because that would also mean the on-going rob from the poor to feed the rich would have to come to an end too. The rich man’s gravy train would be no more.

Heaven forbid, what will they come up with next in order to prevent that from happening again? Another paper? Or maybe they’ll go back and dig Milton Freidman up from his grave and while they’re at it they can get Alan Greenspan out of retirement to help them unregulate (crash) the system again. Oh, but if only they had another Ronald Reagan to get big government off the backs of all those capitalist god-fearing free enterprisers. Oh, yes, for the good old days, so we could do it all over again… the conservative way. Ya, right! :-(

The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism

“Forgive me for noting that conservatives seem to believe that the rich will work harder if we give them more, and the poor will work harder if we give them less.”

The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to Justice, Peace and Brotherhood.

Thanks for the hot dog story. I recall that from many years ago.

Thanks also for the great E.J. Dionne Jr. quote. It concisely sums up the essential core difference motivating the Reform/Alliance Tea Party wannabes that, sadly, dominate the so-called Conservatives in Ottawa these days.

Your quote above sadly sums up the conservative party today who are far from being anything like the conservatives of old, like Dief and Clark before them.

Breaks my heart to see what the old conservative party has become (in name only) since merging with the devil. I’m sure many of the old stalwarts are rolling in their graves in dismay.

Giving the poor less to make them work harder.Home run. Reminds me of Kline lowering welfare payments so the poor of B.C. returned home. Home run again! Lowering welfare payments is giving the rich more money(actually letting them keep more of their own money). Nothing wrong with rewarding people who work for a living and penalizing people who leech for a living.
